Presented by: Kim Dash, PhD, Senior Research Scientist, Education Development Center

SAMHSA’s National Mental Health and Substance Use Policy Laboratory and Center for Substance Abuse Prevention have collaborated to develop a new evidence-based resource guide, “Evidence-Based Substance Abuse Prevention for Emerging Adults”. This guide is one of many that was developed to fulfill the charge of the 21st Century Cures Act to disseminate information on evidence-based practices and service delivery models to prevent substance misuse and to help individuals with substance use disorders (SUD), serious mental illnesses (SMI), and serious emotional disturbances (SED) get the treatment and support that they need. This webinar will review the process of developing the guide with technical experts around the country, review the literature and science in the guide, examine emerging and best practices, determine key components of peer-reviewed models that affect policies and programs, and identify challenges and gaps in implementation.
